I am an Orlando, Florida based portrait photographer, specializing in head shots, children, and families. I also shoot live theatre and music performances.
Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, I got my first camera at seventeen, and started photographing bands, musicians and street life. Those first black and white images ignited within me a passion that has lasted over thirty years.
While studying Communications at the University of New Orleans, I immersed myself in both the Film and Theatre Departments. Working as a camera operator and lighting designer, I developed my eye for light and composition.
Training and Experience
In the late 1980's, I moved to Orlando, and worked as an assistant to Pierre Legault, a wedding and portrait photographer. Under his tutelage, I learned studio portrait lighting, darkroom techniques, as well as photo retouching and restoration.
Over the course of two decades, I began shooting promotional photos for local bands and musicians. I maintained my own lab and darkroom, processing my own film and printing on a variety of papers. Eventually, my physical darkroom evolved into a digital one.
Discovering my true passion
Since 2013, I have collaborated with Howard Middle School's Performing Arts Magnet, shooting promotional photos, Playbill head shots, student concerts and live musical theatre.
More recently, I have begun working with Dr. Phillips High School, shooting promotional photos and dress rehearsals for their Theatre Magnet. I have also provided event photography and head shots for their TV Production Magnet's annual Film Festival.
It is a pleasure and a privilege to capture the vitality and passion of these vibrant young artists.
Following my bliss!
I have spent the last 20 years photographing my three sons and their friends as they grew from energetic toddlers to creative and expressive teens.
When I'm not taking pictures, I enjoy helping my sons shoot films or construct costumes for cosplay at sci-fi conventions.
